Obituary

1953

Created by Peter 4 years ago

Linda Jones was born in 1953 to George and Iris Jones.  She attended school in Ickenham and then studied to be a Librarian working for the London Borough of Hillingdon in Ickenham and Cowley, and subsequently as Deputy Librarian in West Drayton.

In 1976 she met her future husband, Peter, and they duly married in 1979.  She gave up work when Matthew was born in 1983, followed by Kathryn in 1986.

In 1980 she first exhibited symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis with some numbness in her legs but this was not formally diagnosed until a second attack in 1994.  By luck, or possibly by dietary adjustment, this never really affected her lifestyle until another attack in 2017 which restricted her mobility - although she was still able to walk unaided some 500 metres or so.  Many overseas holidays, especially to the United States, took place in this period.

Alas things didn't improve and secondary progressive MS was diagnosed in late 2018 although the extra restrictions didn't significantly affect her passion for gardening.

In late 2019 she started to experience some discomfort in her abdomen and sadly Cancer Unknown Primary was diagnosed in January 2020. This deteriorated and on 31st March she was admitted to Thames Hospice where she died peacefully in the presence of Peter and the children on 7th April.

We do not believe COVID-19 to have been a factor in her demise.

A list of charities we would encourage supporting in her memory may be seen here:- https://lindasaxby.muchloved.com/Lifestories/308223507

Funeral - Slough Crematorium 30th April.  Mourners are restricted so you MUST contact Peter first if you wish to attend.  You will not otherwise be admitted.
